1 killed, several injured in tragic school bus accident

Posted on Thursday, February 16th, 2012 at 5:56 pm

This morning, a fatal car accident between a school bus and a dump truck occurred in Chesterfield. According to the New Jersey State Police, the accident occurred at a 4-way intersection in the town at around 8:30 a.m.

The school bus was carrying several elementary school students when a dump truck crashed into it. After the two vehicles collided, the bus was pushed into a pole, and the dump truck ran off of the road. A student on the bus told his mother than the dump truck caused the accident, but authorities are currently investigating.

A girl on the bus, the daughter of a state trooper, was killed in the accident. Several students suffered unspecified injuries and were transported to various hospitals in helicopters and ambulances.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the girl’s family and friends after this devastating accident.
