Rate at which teens drink and drive decreases over 2 decades

The percentage of high school teenagers in the United States who drink and drive has declined dramatically over the past two decades.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the amount of teenagers at least 16 years of age in high school who drove a vehicle after consuming alcohol declined by roughly 54 percent from 1991 to 2011. Despite this decline, one million teenagers in 2011 claimed that they drove a car after drinking alcohol at some point during the year.
Car accidents are the leading cause of death for teenagers in the United States between the ages of 16-19. Each year roughly 800 teens lose their lives in fatal car accidents that are somehow connected to alcohol. The CDC claims that the decline is great news, but more precautions and initiatives need to be implemented in order for that number to continue to go down.

NJ man receives 5th DUI in 5 weeks

A 45-year-old Vineland, New Jersey, man has gained attention from the media after he was arrested five separate times in five weeks for driving under the influence.
A judge connected to the case claims to not have the proper authority to issue bail due to the fact that the state of New Jersey handles DUI cases as motor vehicle offenses instead of criminal offenses. The only thing police officers can do is continue to arrest him. The man was arrested three times in April and two more times in May.
His last arrest occurred on May 16, and he was able to be detained based on his illegal use of prescription painkillers. Prior to the five arrests the man experienced in the past five weeks, he also has two other drunk driving convictions on his record from 1989 and 1992.
